I begin my creations with a planning sketch. Because I never know when I will feel creative, I carry a little notebook with me everywhere. This is an invaluable tool for getting all those ideas out of my head and onto paper. This helps to see whether a design will be visually appealing before I put needle to wool.
Once I have a good feeling about a design I then set about choosing my palette of colours from a large selection wools. I use natural wools, blended fibres and sometimes even silk. I would like to say I favour a particular wool, but it is the variety of wools that make each creation so unique and help bring different creatures to life.
Many of my creations use other natural materials and driftwood found on our local beach is often integrated into my designs.
